Columbia University Medical Center is looking for a Senior Technician to work it the Department of Urology, Research Lab. Responsibilities will include mouse husbandry, ordering and maintaining lab supplies, records and equipment; preparation of common stock solutions and reagents; and performing other related duties as assigned.
The Senior Technician will report to the PI, assisting in a large project generating a molecular atlas of the mouse lower urinary tract. Specifically, we will identify genetic markers that selectively label specialized epithelial cells that line the urinary tract and map their distribution using in situ hybridization and immunohistochemsitry.
The project involves working with animals, flow sorting of cells from embryonic and adult mouse tissue, RNA preparation and other molecular biology techniques, fluorescent microscopy and digital imaging, and the ability to work with Excel spread sheets (PCR, molecular biology use of Excel) and other programs (Microsoft Powerpoint, Adobe Photoshop).
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in life sciences and one and a half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
