Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Inpatient Units – Acute Services at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, the LPN provides technical nursing care to pediatric through adult populations. Performs treatments and procedures within established guidelines and provides a safe and therapeutic environment.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Participates in data collection related to patient status and needs.
Provides input to Registered Nurses for incorporation into the plan of care by communicating information pertinent to the patient's status.
Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care.
Informs and instructs patient/significant others on patient's health/illness state and plan of care.
Assists patients/significant others in preparation for discharge and health maintenance in the home.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have strong clinical nursing specialty, excellent communication skills, and must be PC literate with proficiency in word processing and leadership abilities.
At least six (6) months (twelve (12) months preferred) of recent experience as an LPN in an acute care setting.
Phlebotomist and/or medical assistant certification.
Recent clinical experience in the relevant clinical specialty.
