Under supervision, the incumbent will assist the PI and research team with a large-scale multi-site longitudinal Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Consortium study on children, and their parents, using neuroimaging, behavioral measures, neuropsychological assessment, mobile activity monitoring, and biological specimens. Primary responsibilities include assisting with conducting neuroimaging acquisition, administering behavioral measures and neuropsychological assessments; and collecting and handling biological specimens. Duties also include obtaining informed assent/consent/HIPAA; collecting, scoring, and uploading study data. General lab assistance duties include maintaining equipment and supplies, and preparing data collection packets, and various human subject correspondence.
Theoretical knowledge of psychiatry, psychology, or related field and previous research experience in a related field.
Thorough knowledge of MRI procedures and MRI safety. Experience screening MRI subjects for MRI contraindications.
Proven scan operator experience. Certification as a scanner operator; demonstrated experience in complying with MRI safety policies and procedures to ensure thorough safety screening of participants.
Knowledge of MRI scans, functional MRI scans, and physiological data collection procedures.
Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and work independently.
Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Proven ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population including children, adolescents, and their parents.
Ability to maintain and protect confidentiality of participant information with working knowledge of mandated reporting procedures.
Bachelor's degree in psychology or social sciences.
Experience administering behavioral interviews to youth and their parents including socioeconomic status, academic achievement, medical and mental history, and current/past substance use information.
Experience administering neuropsychological assessments with children and/or adolescents.
Proficiency in using web-based database platforms including REDCap, and strong computing skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, and Power Point). Familiarity in using iPads, mobile technology including FitBits, and apps for data collection (including Pearson/Q-Interactive and NIH ToolBox), content collaboration software (including Confluence and DropBox), and E-Prime.
Knowledge of MRI and Mock Scan procedures and MRI safety. Experience screening youth MRI subjects via the parent/legal guardian for MRI contraindications. Ability to maintain current MRI Safety Training and Certification through Center for Translational Imaging and Precision Medicine.
Knowledge of or experience in collecting biological specimens including saliva, hair, and urine samples according to a standardized protocol and following universal precautions.
