Indiana University Kokomo seeks qualified candidates for the Cole Fitness Center and intramural assistantship. The Cole Fitness Center is now in its seventh year of existence and consists of 22,000 sq/ft of fitness and wellness space. The Cole Fitness Center is designed to provide opportunities for faculty, staff, students and alumni to engage in fitness and wellness activities while creating healthy habits that impact the greater IU Kokomo community. This Graduate Assistantship is part-time, 10 month appointment from August 1st, 2021 through May 31, 2022, with the ability to renew as a 10 month appointment beginning on August 1st, 2022 through May 31, 2023.
Cole Fitness Center and Intramurals Graduate Assistant: Reporting to Athletic Director, the graduate assistant will assist with daily operations of the fitness center including managing the fitness center staff, fitness center maintenance, programming, and marketing. Essential duties but are not limited to: Assist in the selection, training, developing and evaluation of fitness center staff; ensure proper maintenance and cleaning procedures for fitness center; develop and implement fitness programs and classes; assist in creation and implementation of marketing plan to increase fitness center membership; supervisor the center in the Director's absence; and assist the intramural coordinator in administration of intramural programs. Regular evening and weekend work required.

Must be enrolled in a graduate program at IU Kokomo at the time of appointment; Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports marketing/management, sports administration, or related field preferred; valid driver's license is required, as is the ability to lift 30 pounds, proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, strong interpersonal and written communication skills, demonstrated orientation toward quality service and teamwork, and exhibited leadership and organizational skills; along with the ability to work evenings and weekends. Experience in webpage design preferred.
This is a part-time position averaging 20 hours per week. Compensation includes fee remission (in-state tuition rate) for a maximum of 9 credit hours per semester or combined summer session (fee remission does not cover dedicated fees, mandatory fees, course related fees or audit hours); a total stipend of $8000 over the 10-month appointment, and eligibility for the graduate student health insurance program.
