The MAGIC Production Associate provides supervision, project management, and mentorship to all student teams and MAGIC-commissioned projects that are supported by the RIT MAGIC Center, with the goal of providing all teams with a model consistent with best practices and games industry standards. The MAGIC Production Associate will:
Provide ongoing feedback, critique and help to student teams to establish realistic milestones/deliverables as well as to develop dynamics that lead to strong teams by promoting best-in-class development practices and processes across: communication, conflict management, and project management.
Provide production level support for internal projects, to include management of the projects, team selection, and securing the technical and functional support for the projects. Examples include original IP that is already in production, as well as current and future contracted external client work.
Advise and educate student teams on the production process, including the evaluation of project vision, feasibility, risks, and schedule.
Identify and provide coaching for students in areas of professional growth in order to cultivate teamwork, leadership, and collaborative skills.
Connect teams and individuals with appropriate mentorship as well as technical and academic opportunities, specifically (but not limited to) connection to industry professionals, critiques, and other professional development opportunities.
Act as a process conduit between RIT and student teams as it relates to digital media publication requirements.
Develop, organize and administer the process for the MAGIC Maker program including the call for proposals, selection, and evaluation of projects each semester.
In addition to managing production, the MAGIC Production Associate will also assist with the execution of initiatives related to the RIT Digital Game Hub, including our presence and participation in game development competitions and showcases, including the annual Rochester Game Festival, MAGIC Game Jams, and Game Developers Conference.
This activity is a part of the New York State Empire State Development Digital Games Hub initiative at the Rochester Institute of Technology as administered through the MAGIC Center.
About the Digital Game Hub at the RIT MAGIC Center: in 2015, RIT, along with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and New York University, was named a Digital Game Hub and awarded grant funding by Empire State Development. In 2019, this grant was renewed with increased funding and a Center of Excellence designation. It is the hubs' objective to partner with the local game development community is to establish solid foundations for long-term growth through outreach and community building activities and increase the economic impact of games to New York state and to raise the profile of game development in western New York.

Required Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree game design and development, media design, communications, OR academic or industry equivalent. Knowledge of the digital media field is essential.
5-10 years of experience with the academic and/or industry portion of the game design and development field, digital media production, or related disciplines as necessary to achieve the objectives of the Digital Game Hub.
Strong project management skills and experience
Mentoring skills and ability to manage and advise teams regarding group dynamics
Technical competency with software tools and knowledge of production pipelines for games and digital media
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organization skills
