Experience with policies, fund/grant accounting principles, and other practices relevant to university sponsored projects administration.

The Office of Sponsored Programs Administration (OSPA) at Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking applicants for a Research Administrator II. This position has numerous complex and diverse responsibilities and duties in the OSPA office including responsibility for management of award and post-award issues of sponsored funded projects.
Responsible for independently reviewing and analyzing grant agreements, negotiate and sign basic awards/agreements and other basic contractual amendments/modifications under signature authority delegated by the Director of OSPA.
Review and process award documents in conformity with University and sponsor policies and requirements. Â
Ensure compliance with ISU internal policies, sponsor guidelines, and federal regulations (2 CFR 200).
Serve as a resource to faculty, staff and grant coordinators in the administration of such grants and agreements.Â
Provide final review and approval of award budget.
Ensure award and negotiation data are accurately entered into OSPA database systems to enable ISUâs administration to create accurate reports.
Review, request, and/or approve under delegated signature authority post-award requests for financial and significant program/research modifications for allowability and fiscal integrity and follow-up as necessary with sponsoring agencies.
Provide advice and assistance in researching and interpreting University, federal, state, and other research sponsors regulations, policies and procedures.Â
Responsible for working with faculty/departments/colleges/sponsors on award transfers, incoming and outgoing.
Provide review and approval of advanced worktag requests and pre-spend requests.
Responsible for analyzing requests for subrecipient agreements including risk assessment and subrecipient monitoring.
Independently develops, negotiates and executes sub award agreements and sub award amendments issued off ISU prime grants under delegated signature authority.
Â Internal Awards
Review for completeness and accuracy and process for internal awards.
Communicate with faculty to ensure accurate scope of work, budgetary information and project deliverables.
Ensure that conflict of interest and compliance issues have been appropriately addressed.
Â Research Administration
Collaborates with Offices of University Counsel, Responsible Research, Research Integrity, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer, Sponsored Programs Accounting, Procurement Services, and others to ensure award compliance with sponsor and ISU policies.
Provides just-in-time guidance or materials for understanding and implementing sponsor specific regulations and requirements.
Serve as representative for the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration at campus meetings for issues related to research and sponsored programs.
Participate and provide input for process improvements, training programs and electronic research administration issues within the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration.
Recommend and assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to negotiation of awards. This position also has responsibility for monitoring delinquent technical reports.
The successful candidate will have creative problem-solving, customer service, team building and organizational skills. In addition, the candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
