Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Location: Center for Decision Research, 224 S. Michigan Ave.
Supervises operations of the storefront lab space.
Manages all administrative tasks related to the storefront lab daily operations, including participant intake/consent procedures, organization and management of daily studies conducted in the lab, maintenance of proper record-keeping of visitor data and research management records, and accounting of incentives provided for participation.
Oversees, schedules, hires, and trains research assistants who will conduct study sessions with visitors to the lab.
Maintains and prepares reports related to research operations metrics.
Designs communications strategies and processes related to operations of the storefront lab, including RA scripts and debriefing of studies and exhibits.
Governs facilities and equipment in the storefront lab, with support of other departments when necessary.
Serves as project manager for studies that are conducted in the CDR storefront lab by CDR-affiliated faculty, graduate students, and postdocs, overseeing the full scope of work for each managed study.
Designs and executes outreach and recruitment methods for the CDR labs, engineering creative solutions to promote the labs and recruit participants for lab locations, with focus placed on the storefront lab.Â Collects and reports data on the effectiveness of recruitment methods.
Maintains excellent, timely communication regarding research operations with CDR faculty, students, postdocs, and staff.
Attends weekly CDR staff meetings, and lab team meetings to report, review, and discuss operational procedures and outcomes.
Keeps up-to-date with Institutional Review Board policy and ethical guidelines in human subjects research, and provides support and best-practice recommendations to CDR researchers related to these guidelines and policies.
Reconciles research expenses using UChicago ePayment and GEMS online systems as necessary.
Assists in designing and delivering training and professional development events for the CDR Labs team.
Aids in organizing and staffing CDR-sponsored events (Think Better lecture series, etc.) as needed.
Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.
May assist recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Is developing skills in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.
Performs other related work as needed.
Bachelorâ™s degree in the area of psychology, organizational behavior, or marketing.
At least two years of experience in conducting computer, web-based, and interpersonal interaction-based experiments.
Previous experience in managing research teams and research projects.
Familiarity with behavioral science research methods.
Outstanding verbal, written, presentation and organizational skills.
Handle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines with frequent interruptions.
Work independently with little supervision; possessing a self-motivated disposition.
Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend effective changes, all while achieving key objectives resulting in desired outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty, organizational partners, and members of the public, in a multitude of communication methods i.e., in person, email, phone.
Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach.
