The Assistant Director of Admissions helps to recruit J.D. students, manage the on-campus recruitment process, assists with the management of off-campus recruitment, contributes significantly to all event planning, including Orientation and an extensive admitted student visitation calendar, counsels and advises prospective J.D. students, and reviews J.D. applications for admission.
Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective student inquiries via in-person, phone, video conferencing and email.
Is the primary Admissions team member responsible for in-person recruitment, and travels throughout the country to recruitment events throughout the year, but especially during the fall semester
Manage on-campus recruitment programs for prospective students, including class observation and law school tours. Work closely with all part-time student tour guides, student volunteers, and Cardozo student organizations. Plan and oversee specific programs and events for prospective students including monthly Open Houses; contribute significantly to the coordination of admitted student events; and oversee details related to J.D. Orientation and the enrollment of new students. Assist with the management of Cardozo's extensive off-campus recruitment programs
Interview and evaluate candidates for admission. Serve as a member of the Cardozo Admissions Committee. Read and evaluate a significant portion of the applicant pool and make admissions recommendations
Develop and analyze statistical applicant and enrollment reports on a regular basis
Serve as an editor for all content posted to the admissions section of the Cardozo website. Create materials for admissions on-campus events
Take on special projects and additional responsibilities as requested by the Dean of Admissions
Responsible for supervising and coordinating student ambassadors who lead daily tours, cover the reception desk, and volunteer throughout the year for various admissions events. Plan and organize admissions events. Work closely with prospective students throughout the admissions cycle. Sound judgment required; this person will play a key role on the Cardozo Admissions Committee and will regularly make recommendations to the dean of admissions regarding the possible admission of applicants.
Experience & Educational Background:
Required: Bachelor's degree and valid driver license
Preferred: Advanced degree and/or 3-5 years professional experience
Skills & Competencies:
Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential. Strong technical skills required; experience with Microsoft office is a plus. Must have strong organizational skills with great attention to detail. Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and within a team. Ability to handle new projects as they arise.
