The General Assistant provides direct, moderately complex support to the Department Chair, Program Management Specialist, faculty and staff.
Responsibilities include: maintaining the department website; coordinating and organizing recruiting events with the Admissions Office; assisting with Box Office operations/customer service for department performances; responding to general inquiries on the phone, in person and over email regarding the Theatre department; creating printed materials (using templates) for Theatre productions; monitoring publicity deadlines for programs and social media for department productions; maintaining department lists and files; managing databases and mailing lists; and other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or GED. The candidate must have: excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and changing priorities. Must be a quick-learner, self-starter and have the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Adobe Creative Suite, Google products (Calendar, Drive, Sheets, Docs) and various social media platforms. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours for department performances and/or events.
One year experience providing administrative support. Associate’s Degree or some college preferred. Knowledge of WordPress or similar software is strongly preferred. Knowledge of theatrical production processes is desirable. Experience with both Mac and Windows platforms is a plus.
