Reporting to the Director of Strategic Sourcing and Campus Business Operations, this position will support the various administrative functions of the department as well as the university's procurement processes by assisting in identifying new opportunities for savings through analysis of the university's spend and competitive bid processing, providing guidance to the campus community with respect to purchasing, assisting with training and navigation of the university's procurement system, and acting as a first point of contact for staff seeking to identify ways to save money through their procurement decisions.
Typically a high school diploma or equivalent; preferably a bachelor's degree. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities needed to stay abreast of best practices and industry trends.
Minimum of four years administrative and bookkeeping support experience, preferred. Experience and knowledge of general accounting practices, account reconciliation as well as other accounting/bookkeeping procedures including but not limited to cash handling and control.
Ability to interact in a professional, friendly, courteous manner while exercising good judgment and discretion when handling confidential matters. Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) for both internal and external department communications are a must.
Consistency in attendance, being dependable, trustworthy, reliable and punctual; reasonably enthusiastic and ready to work every day, Mon-Fri – 8 hours/day. Possess a strong work ethic as part of a team as well as independently and follow through on assignments in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
Must remain calm under pressure in interactions with the public in high volume situations and in handling continuous public contact with frequent interruptions, while also knowing when to escalate certain matters to upper management.
Maintain computer competency and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and various other applications in a Windows environment – with a willingness to learn new systems as needed.
