USC Athletics and the Keck Department of Psychiatry house the USC Sport Psychology program, and the Performance Science Institute is the research arm of that department. PSI creates actionable knowledge from research that can be embedded in programming and approaches that enhance the academic, athletic, career and social-emotional development of student-athletes. Program evaluation and cultural assessments of teams and the department are conducted regularly for continuous improvement in efforts to minimize contextual barriers that undermine student-athletes' wellbeing and maximize support and programming that help student-athletes thrive in all aspects of their lives.Â
PSI is looking for a Project Specialist to coordinate and support research-related activities and projects run by the research and sport psychology team. This person would report to the Co-Executive Directors of PSI and would be responsible for the organization, planning and coordinating of applied research activities and programming for student-athletes and staff. The Project Specialist should be knowledgeable in research processes such as conducting literature reviews, following research protocols with human subjects research, basic knowledge of survey administration and how data can inform practice. The position also requires superior executive skills, including organization and planning, initiative, flexibility, and the ability to get along with a wide variety of people within the Athletic and KECK environments. Solid writing skills, good boundaries, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are all essential. The position provides the opportunity to work directly with athletic staff and student athletes within a science practitioner model under both a seasoned researcher and licensed clinician.
