The Media Assistant will work at the Media Center Assistant Director; the primary responsibility of this position is organizing and delivering service to Media Services clients in the evenings. These services include but are not limited to:
*Audio/video recording, webcasting, distance learning, and video-conferencing, *The implementation, care of, and associated faculty/user training of classroom educational technology equipment. *Specification, execution of set-up and operation of audio reinforcement systems and video projection systems, video capture and streaming equipment, production and event lighting, and other audio-visual tools. *Audio/video capture, editing, compression, and multi-format delivery of classroom and event content. *Triage and response to classroom desktop computer challenges, including troubleshooting application errors, operating system errors, and basic networking challenges.

70 This position will provide technical support and services to clients during daily classes and events and major University events.
10 This also includes training and supervising student staff, maintaining a clean and orderly workspace, procuring equipment and supplies, scheduling, distributing, and receiving equipment, providing instruction to equipment users, and periodic equipment inventory.
10 In addition to the operational duties, the Classroom Technology and Media Specialist, will be accountable for managing and executing assigned projects servicing both UMS clients and UMS internal initiatives.
10 This position may, on occasion, also support other projects, initiatives, or daily operational duties at the direction of the Director.
Requirements/Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's degree (preferred) with 3-5 years of relevant experience. This position requires an individual who prefers a team environment and understands, appreciates, and works well within a team-oriented group. Knowledge of new media, digital technologies, web-based software, educational media, and computer and information technology, including hardware and software. The incumbent must stay current with developments in media and technology as it relates to higher education. The incumbent must be organized and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to train and supervise student employees, a serious commitment to customer service, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, and a good sense of humor.
Experience with the following tools/equipment is preferred: Digital Rapids, digital video content acquisition, editing, encoding and streaming, Apple's Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Compressor, Adobe Creative Suite, Digital Rapids encoding, Pro-Tools, and Crestron automation and controls. This role requires periodic after-hours and weekend work in support of university classes, events, and programs.
The schedule is Monday-Thursday 11:30 am-7:30 pm and Saturday 8:00 am-4pmThis position is responsible for managing the lifecycle management, repair, and maintenance of the media equipment installed in classrooms throughout the University. The installed equipment runs the gamut from "stand-alone" equipment to highly integrated systems. Responsibilities include developing preventive and routine maintenance schedules, implementing schedules, troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment failures, arranging for proper repair or replacement with the appropriate vendor(s), selecting vendors, and developing the maintenance and repair budget.
In addition, this critical member of the team will lead various projects, including some event management and audio-visual content production.
