The Califano Lab in the Department of Systems Biology is looking for a Technician B to work on basic and translational cancer biology projects. The position involves sample preparation, single-cell RNA sequencing library generation, and cell culture. This would be an excellent position for a recent graduate or post-baccalaureate looking to obtain research experience in preparation for medical or graduate school. THIS IS A TEMPORARY 12 MONTH POSITION WHICH MAY TURN INTO A REGULAR, ONGOING POSITION. MUST BE ABLE TO COMMIT TO 12 MONTHS.
Preparation of tumor and cell culture samples for single-cell RNA sequencing
Generation of libraries for next-generation sequencing
Perform laboratory activities necessary for cell culture including but not limited to the maintenance of cell lines, the preparation of media, routine testing of mammalian cell lines, transfection/transduction
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or physics or related sciences or equivalent in education, training and experience.
Some laboratory experience.
At least 1-year laboratory experience in molecular biology, cell biology, or chemistry
Experience using aseptic basic science techniques with cell culture is preferred, but not necessary
Coursework in calculus, statistics, and biochemistry
Prior laboratory experience in microbiology.
