Provides support to the nursing team for Doernbecher Perioperative Services. The CNA assists care providers in the care of pediatric patients in the short stay, post anesthesia care, and pediatric sedation units, by performing simple procedures and treatments and maintaining a safe, clean, efficiently stocked environment.
DCH Perioperative Services is a department within Perioperative Services within the Nursing Division. There are 8 operating rooms, 1 MRI suite,and 2 procedures rooms. The daily average volume of patient procedures performed ranges between 15 and 40 or more, Monday through Friday. Procedures are limited to all specialties of Pediatric Surgery. The mission of the department is to provide exemplary cost effective care to the surgical pediatric patients and to serve as a role model for surgical patient care in the Pacific Northwest. Perioperative Services at Doernbecher cares for patients ranging in age from neonate to 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED
Valid Oregon CNA license with CNA 2 (Acute Care) Certification at time of hire
BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
Must be able to effectively utilize oral and written communication skills with staff and the public in English
Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks
Ability to develop systems/routine independently to reflect standard work defined by unit
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
One year of CNA experience in an acute care unit and 1 year experience with children
Experience in Epic program
