Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II for the Child & Adolescent Services – School Based Program within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC). The Mental Health Clinician II coordinates and provides comprehensive mental health care and related services to children and adolescents in schools. Assists in the development of treatment plans, including referral for appropriate level of mental health services. Demonstrates competency in assessing and treating children and adolescents (5-18 years).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned clients including coordination of treatment, scheduling of groups, and liaison with community agencies.
Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy as clinically indicated to assigned clients, including children and adolescents (5-18 years).
Conducts accurate assessment and involves client and/or family in developing achievable and understandable psychosocial treatment plans.
Advocates for appropriate resources for clients and families based on assessed needs.
Makes home visits as necessary to engage families and provide effective interventions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a mental health discipline plus two (2) years post master's experience in the mental health field, or Doctorate Degree.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to recognize the unique needs and behavior of children (5 – 12 years) and adolescents (13 – 18 years).
Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish).
Position requires flexible scheduling including evening and Saturday hours on occasion.
