Committed to Advancing Excellence and Equity in Education, the Graduate School of Education (GSE) at Rutgers University-New Brunswick seeks an outstanding non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice to join the school and Rutgers program faculty in the College Student Affairs Program.
The College Student Affairs (CSA) master's degree program is housed in the Department of Educational Psychology at the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The CSA program prepares students for professional positions in the field of student affairs. The curriculum is based on the academic requirements established by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) and the Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Educators (2015) endorsed by NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and ACPA: College Student Educators International. Students' learning opportunities include combinations of classroom instruction, project-based learning, field experiences, internships, and individualized learning.
Central Responsibilities of Position: The successful candidate will assume an active role in the Program. The incumbent will focus on administering the experiential components of the CSA program, such as managing field experience opportunities and internships, collaborating with program partners in student affairs, and developing and teaching courses that focus on professional practice. Responsibilities include teaching approximately 18 credits per academic year, graduate student advisement, administrative duties, and service.
Subject to the availability of funding, the position will begin September, 2021.
Minimum Education and Experience:
We seek candidates for the Assistant Professor of Practice Level with an earned doctorate in Higher Education and Student Affairs (or related field) from an accredited university. The candidate will have professional experience (preferably a minimum of 5 years) in student affairs or related area.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Preferred Qualifications: We are particularly interested in candidates who have a strong background in working with minoritized populations, as well as a focus on social justice, equity, and inclusion in education. Candidates who have extensive experience in student affairs practice are preferred. Involvement in student affairs professional organizations (i.e., ACPA or NASPA) via membership, conference attendance, and program presentations is ideal. Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is preferred, particularly at the graduate level.
