The Wucherpfennig labâ€™s work focuses on the development of novel cancer immunotherapies. The lab is investigating how cancer cells evade an anti-tumor immune attack, and we are using these molecular insights to develop novel therapeutic strategies.
The position in the Department of Cancer Immunology and Virology involves functional characterization of discovered resistance pathways in cell culture and in vivo models. The position is open to recent college graduates; we will also consider applicants with two or three years of prior experience. Requirements are a bachelorâ€™s degree in biology or a related field of science. Prior experience in molecular biology, cell culture and/or flow cytometry is a plus. The recruited person will work together with more senior members of the lab to investigate molecular mechanisms used by cancer cells to evade an immune attack. Following initial training, this person will independently conduct experiments designed to test important hypotheses. The person will also contribute to shared responsibilities for maintenance of complex scientific equipment.
Conduct immunological experiments, analyze experimental data and interpret results for publications.
Present data in informal and formal settings to other members of the lab.
Contribute at an intellectual level by keeping up with appropriate research publications.
Expected to maintain detailed notebook of all work-related activities.
Ensures compliance with Environmental Health and Safety information as well as the standard operation procedures.
Contribute to maintenance of key equipment.
Bachelor's Degree required with a major in biology or chemistry preferred.
Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Must have attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasks.
Ability to work within a team environment.
