The Employment Consultant Senior will provide consultation, leadership, and a high-level of customer service to support faculty and staff hiring efforts at the University of Kentucky. The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Consulting – The Employment Consultant Senior will serve as the lead consultant for all faculty searches. This position will proactively build and maintain strong working relationships with hiring departments to provide resources and tools to support faculty recruitment and selection. This can include coaching, training, developing search specific resources, and recommending hiring best practices. This position will partner with Search Committee Chairs to develop recruitment plans to assist in meeting the University's strategic plan and diversity goals. This position will serve as the primary presenter for Faculty Search Committee trainings and will also lead trainings on general hiring principles, unconscious bias, and other selection best practices.
Supervision – This position will supervise an Employment Consultant and an Employment Specialist who support campus staff hiring efforts. This will include hiring, coaching, and performance management, with support from the HR Employment Manager.
Service Development and Organizational Improvement – The Employment Consultant Senior contributes to the continuous improvement of the department's services by actively leading work teams and projects. This position will oversee and promote UK's Faculty Hiring Guidelines and Toolkit and will continue to develop and share services and resources created under the Hiring Enhancement Program.
Customer Service – The Employment Consultant Senior will provide exceptional customer service while facilitating the faculty hiring process and supporting staff hiring. In addition, this position will provide executive search recruitment assistance which includes creating search timelines and deliverables; building successful candidate profiles; conducting research to identify potential applicants; assisting in direct outreach to potential applicants; coordinating logistical needs for searches including arrangements for candidates and interviews.
Compliance – This position will collaborate with appropriate employment team members and departments/colleges to ensure all posting and selection requirements are adhered to as outlined by University policies and procedures, relevant state and federal employment laws, and department standard operating procedures (SOPs). This position will create standard operating procedures and evaluate existing SOPs for effectiveness.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, effectively influence, coach and train hiring departments and provide leadership and problem solving. This individual must possess professional knowledge of hiring and selection techniques and quickly be able to gain an understanding of the business operations of distinct units of the University. The successful individual will deliver superior customer service focus, have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), attention to detail, planning and organization, information monitoring and analysis and presentation skills. Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field. Prefer several years of experience and a proven track record in hiring and selection coaching and/or consultation. Experience with Targeted Selection is a plus.
