GEAR UP MS is a federally funded program from the U.S. Department of Education to increase access and readiness across Mississippi. Three districts within the state (Greenville, McComb, Meridian) will receive direct service to increase academic readiness for college. GEAR UP MS districts will have a site implementation coach to oversee GEAR UP MS academic and access services. The coach will coordinate assessment administration and support school leaders in using data for student course placement and remediation. This role will also assist school administration in strengthening course offerings including dual enrollment and STEM programming in accordance with the goals of GEAR UP MS.

Oversee delivery of GEAR UP MS work plan services at their assigned site 2. Identifies site specific professional development and/or management needs and coordinates with GEAR UP MS Project Director activities to address the need 3. Assist district administration and building principal in strengthening course offerings including dual enrollment and STEM programming in accordance with the goals of GEAR UP MS. 4. Coordinate the administration and support of GEAR UP assessment offerings 5. Support school leaders in using data for student course placement and remediation. 6. Regularly review GEAR UP MS plan of work implementation plan to ensure activities effectively integrate and build upon existing activities and resources. 7. Facilitate awareness of GEAR UP MS activities to students, parents and building staff in order to ensure participation 8. Document GEAR UP MS program activities and student participation in weekly report to Project Director 9. Coordinates with WHEF Get2College leadership on access efforts within the school 10. Works with WHEF Get2College to facilitate parent workshops geared toward helping parents become prepared to support their child's educational process and success. 11. Perform other duties related
Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience working in education related organizations in teaching, training, curriculum, or project/grant management activities.
* Master's degree and at least 5 years' experience working in education related organizations in teaching, administration, training, curriculum, or project/grant management activities. * Strong background in mathematics and or English preferred. * Demonstrated leadership or administrative experience in an education related field. * Experience in planning, leading and training. * Experience making delivering training and professional development sessions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Demonstrated strong experience working with education achievement data. * Capability to function as an independent, self-motivated, and self-reliant self-starter who initiates appropriate actions and strategies and can work successfully without constant direction and close supervision. * Experience coaching and influencing others to accomplish tasks. * Experience with online learning management systems. * Ability to anticipate barriers to project completion; plan and manage contingencies. * Knowledge of how to use technology to deliver products and services. * Knowledge of education trends in the areas of Career Pathways, 21st century skills, and college and career readiness. * Must have strong knowledge of instructional and emerging technologies.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Duties are performed in a school environment with no unusual physical demands. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
