Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks an energetic and experienced Admissions/Academic Advisor to provide comprehensive and intensive onboarding, enrollment, and advising services as part of the Admissions and Advising Center with the goal of improving student success. *Duties and Responsibilities*: The Admissions/Academic Advisor will have a comprehensive knowledge of all college policies and procedures, including the application, enrollment, placement, and orientation processes. In addition to providing a wide range of pre-enrollment services for new students, the advisor will also provide advising for current students in all educational programs by appointment and on a walk-in basis. The advisor will have a comprehensive knowledge of all transfer, occupational/technical, and workforce services programs offered at the College. The advisor will have the responsibility of assisting students with their needs and concerns and will help students monitor their progress toward successful attainment of their educational goals. Specific responsibilities and functions include: * Work with all new students on all phases of the admissions and enrollment process, from application, to placement, to registration and payment * Assist new students with other onboarding functions, including the financial aid process * Assist new students in choosing a program of study that reflects their interests and skills and to start an academic plan * Connect students to necessary support services such as tutoring and financial resources * Provide advising and planning for all programs of study at the College * Provide transfer advising and planning, including information on guaranteed admissions * Review students' prior academic coursework from other schools * Monitor students' academic progress * Assist students with graduation requirements
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited institution or equivalent experience; Experience in a higher education environment; Commitment to the community college mission; Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, interests, and abilities; Ability to work in a dynamic student environment and with a diverse student population; Strong interpersonal and written communication skills; Outstanding leadership and organizational skills; A focus on student success.
