Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking an Advising Coordinator. This position will serve as the administrator of all student success advising services at SWCC. This will include oversight of all grant-funded advising positions, including the CSCI, RVHI, G3, Title III programs and any additional staff that is added for the purpose of advising students. This position will play a critical role in the advising model at SWCC, ensuring that uniform service, documentation and training is provided across the institution in order to provide a consistent experience for students at SWCC.
*Excellent communication skills to include written and verbal mediums. *Ability to work with and serve as a leader for a team of coaches/advisors. *Able to communicate a clear vision of SWCC's advising model and how it impacts student success. *Experience working with racially, ethnically, economically and age diverse individuals. *Excellent computer and office skills. *Ability to provide data for reporting use as needed. *Able to provide excellent customer service for all students and prospective students at SWCC. *Assist with recruitment and student engagement events as needed. *Ability to write policy and procedure manuals to provide all coach/advisors with the structure needed to provide high quality and consistent advising services across the institution. *Ability to build and maintain staff and faculty advising syllabi and design a system to ensure completion measures are met. *Independent decision making regarding programs and staff within prescribed limits or parameters. *Leadership, development and management of staff and programs. *Develops, interprets, and applies policies and procedures within prescribed limits or parameters. *Bachelor's degree in counseling or related field. *Experience as a student coach or advisor in the higher education field.
