Provides general/routine administrative and office support in the Advancement Services unit that includes a broad range of duties primarily focused on processing donations, and updating biographic information of UMSL alumni and donors. Manages the Matching Gifts program.
Receive and process donations to the University following university processes, IRS regulations, and CASE guidelines.
Process Matching Gifts claims received from donors to ensure that companies receive confirmation of gifts. Also track unfulfilled claims to follow up with companies to request information on unmatched claims.
Work with the Senior Gift Processor to coordinate questions to Advancement staff, other UMSL staff/faculty, UM System staff, and/or donors if additional information is needed to process donations appropriately.
Input, revise, store, and retrieve correspondence or data in electronic and/or paper files.
Update biographic and demographic data from various sources, including from the alumni/donors, vendor information appends, and monitoring public information.
Confirm or update data in our system through cleanup projects following instructions.
Assist with processing donor gift receipts and other donor or alumni correspondence as needed.
Possibly answer phones or emails, and greet visitors; provide information and assist in the preparation of forms as needed.
Other projects as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Associates or Bachelor's degree in business related field preferred
Experience with financial data entry
Coursework toward Accounting or other business degree or related experience
Experience with a charitable organization
Technical writing for client end-users
Data quality project experience
Two years of work experience in job with comparable work functions listed above
Microsoft Office applications proficiency, including production mail merge support
Attention to detail and maintain a high level of accuracy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Effectively perform under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor
