Senior Research Data Analyst - Institutional Research 17040
The Office of Institutional Research at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative Senior Research Data Analyst who is passionate about creating and sharing data analytics to help the Office fulfill its mission of collecting, analyzing, and disseminating relevant research to the campus leadership.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Lead in the preparation of qualitative and quantitative research studies including design, data validation and report creation.
Specialize in retention, time to degree, progression and graduation metrics and studies including tracking various student demographic populations.
Recommend and develop research studies conducted by the Office to support student success activities.
Handle ad hoc requests from other offices.
Present data and results to various audiences; serving on and supporting task forces and committees; and working collaboratively on projects with colleagues within IR and across campus.
A successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
Three (3) years of experience in institutional research, enrollment management, or related field.
Ability to write, speak and present information clearly and concisely to a wide variety of audiences.
Experience designing and implementing research studies of varying complexity and in writing research summaries and reports.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Access, Power Point and Word, and statistical software including SPSS, SAS, or R.
Experience creating or manipulating large databases.
Ability to lead and work in teams.
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and to manage competing priorities.
Ability to complete assignments on time and with a high degree of quality and responsiveness and to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
Priority candidates will have the following preferred qualifications:
Master's degree with experience in institutional research, enrollment management, or related field.
Master's degree-level training and proficiency in social science research methodology and statistical analysis techniques.
Experience delivering analyses using Tableau or similar visualization technology.
Experience developing data models to predict retention and graduation.
Experience in understanding and working with diverse populations.
Experience in an Institutional Research or related office.
