Reporting to the Director of Human Resources Operations, the Assistant Director of Human Resources Operations will serve as a strategic partner to develop, implement, and provide ongoing evaluation of Human Resources programs that support the classification, compensation, and benefits strategic goals and priorities of Elon University. Responsible for the overall development and management of a classification program, support of the university's benefits program, and recruitment process. Also, for leading and providing expertise, as well as functioning as a consultant to HR leadership. The Assistant Director provides recommendations on changes to employment programs to ensure they remain competitive with peer organizations.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources, or related field and at least six years of experience in employee compensation and benefits preferably in high education setting. Demonstrated skill in operational management and staffing. Knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs, university policies, and operations. In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits regulations including FLSA, ACA, ERISA, COBRA, 403(b), and Section 125 requirements. Must be a solution-driven individual with excellent customer service skills.
Special Skills Or Experience:
Experience in People / HR Analytics with a focus on data analysis, data visualization, and data modeling of human resources and talent acquisition. This includes the ability to analyze various occupations for compensation principles and techniques, job design, and organizational design. Statistical analysis, salary surveys, and project management using Microsoft Office applications are a must.
Demonstrated skills in collaboration, consensus-building, and communicating complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way. This position has supervisory responsibilities of four staff members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Comprehensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of compensation management which include but not limited to: theories, practices, designs and methodologies, salary administration, human resource management, policy administration, workforce analytics/data, statistical analysis, survey design, HRIS systems, and workforce planning.
Develop, support, and implement creative and innovative sourcing strategies and techniques to build a pipeline of talented and qualified candidates to achieve business goals while promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Will conduct analysis and will evaluate positions to recommend the appropriate staff classification and compensation pay levels.
Maintains Elon's high standards and provides oversight to annual benefits open enrollment with coordination of HR team members.
Maintains thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations on all aspects of compensation and classification policies, which include but are not limited to FLSA regulations.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to maintain effective working relationships with all facets of individuals and effectively communicate thoughts, ideas, policies, etc. to all technical/non-technical audiences verbally and in writing.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills while working independently and collaboratively as part of multiple teams.
Knowledge and ability to work at a computer and complete tasks with or without a reasonable accommodation which includes safety and security precautions appropriate to the work being performed.
