This position reports to the Chair / Deputy Chair of the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice. The lecturer will teach a 4-4 course load of required criminal justice courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The program Chair / Deputy Chair will determine course assignments each semester in consultation with the lecturer. Courses may include, but will not be limited to, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminology, Professional & Legal Writing, Criminal Justice Research Methods, and Criminal Justice Ethics. The lecturer will also perform academic advising for students in the criminal justice major.
Job Duties: -Teach four courses per semester in the undergraduate and graduate programs in criminal justice. -Advise criminal justice students prior to registration in the Fall and Spring. -Attend department meetings. -Attend Becton College faculty meetings. -Special projects as assigned.
-PhD in criminal justice or closely related field, or an M.A. plus several years of field experience in a criminal justice profession. -Prior college level teaching experience. -The lecturer must be a generalist who can teach a broad range of topics in the discipline. -Field experience and/or research experience in criminal justice highly preferred.
-Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
