The front desk is the hub of the hotel so this position requires a person with the motivation and engagement to keep apprised of polices/procedures, to professionally resolve conflicts and to address guest needs in a timely manner under sometimes busy and/or stressful circumstances.
This is a dual position which includes Night Audit and Night Porter duties, depending on the night. Four 9 to 10 hour shifts per week will include weekend nights and some holidays. A person in this position needs to be able to act independently in the absence of manager on property within set guidelines.
As Night Porter you will: - Spend much of the time as a Front Desk Agent, checking guests in and out, answering phones, making reservations and attending to guest requests. - Work closely with colleagues to coordinate and assist guests. - Be responsible for nightly walks of the building to ensure guest safety and security. - Respond to guest requests, complaints, and security issues (working closely with Campus Public Safety officers).
As Night Audit you will: - Complete all accounting obligations in order prepare reports as required. This includes but is not limited to balancing and reconciliation of all accounts in order to finalize the Night Audit and close the hotel accounts for the evening.
A strong candidate is someone who has problem solving and de-escalating experience, is reliable, enjoys a busy atmosphere, can work with minimal supervision, has an eye for detail, and can enforce policies.
At least one year of hotel or other hospitality/service related experience.
Ability to clearly communicate in English with a diverse clientele in person, in writing, and by telephone.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and work instructions.
Cash handing experience with verifiable accuracy.
Individual has worked overnight shifts regularly in the past.
Night Audit experience.
Experience with OPERA property management system.
