Millersville University is searching for a qualified individual to fill the position of the Assistant Director of the Dr. Rita Wade-El Intercultural Center. The person selected will assisting with promoting the values of diversity, inclusion and enhance student engagement. As an integral member of the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Division and the Department of Campus Life Team, the Assistant Director will facilitate programs, activities and initiatives which support and align with the university's diversity and inclusion value and goals and enhance the overall educational experience through the development of, exposure to and participation in social, cultural intellectual programs. Development in coordination with Leadership Office a weekend leadership retreat.
The Assistant Director should have an entrepreneurial spirit and be prepared to sustain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment among all students. The Assistant Director will provide advocacy, support services, and coordinate outreach to promote the success of students from historically marginalized populations and play a lead role establishing effective college-wide programs that strive to promote understanding and growth, student development, cultural competency, cognitive development and understanding of social justice concepts, enhanced opportunities for identity development and sense of belonging. Programs developed should enhance student's overall development and incorporation into the workings of the institution.
Annual salary is $49,565.00.
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related field.
One year of professional work experience in Higher Education.
One year of professional work experience in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work.
Demonstrated experience of successfully facilitating/leading workshops, programs, and events.
Demonstrated evidence of establishing and maintaining positive, professional, and supportive relationships with students.
Demonstrated awareness and understanding of issues and concerns connected to social group membership and historically marginalized groups.
Evidence of experience collaborating with academic departments.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
A valid driver's license.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Successful completion of three background checks.
Evidence of experience collaborating with academic affairs departments.
Extensive knowledge of social justice and student activism best practices higher education.
