The University of Tennessee Foundation seeks to fill a position with an experienced fundraising professional for a major gifts role for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. (UTHSC) Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Regional Development for this region will serve as the external relations professional representing all six colleges on the Health Science Center's campus. This position's coverage area includes East Tennessee, and other states nearby and on the West Coast. On some occasions, this position may also be expected to cover other territory, as well. Additionally, the candidate will also work directly with the Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville and with Audio and Speech Pathology. Responsibilities include building a portfolio of major gift prospects through ongoing identification work and one-on-one discovery calls based on fundraising goals as assigned; develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for assigned prospects; tripartite asks which include annual, major, and planned gift commitments, are to be the focus of discussions; build close working relationships with UTHSC's major internal and external constituencies which include the Chancellor and his leadership team, college Deans and their faculties, and members of related academic, administrative, research, and clinical programs; volunteers and alumni; work with colleagues, faculties and volunteers in identifying annual and major gift prospects; develop a broad knowledge base of the six colleges in order to interpret and represent its strengths, strategic plan and funding priorities; engage in timely stewardship activities and to collaborate with colleagues in the coordination of all prospect activities; support the overall goals of the department and be an active participant in UTHSC development and alumni affairs; engage planned giving staff as appropriate on prospective donor calls; accept other major assignments from the Senior Director of Regional Development or the designee that will benefit the overall program; travel as required; comply with the department's policies and procedures.
Located in Memphis, Tennessee, University of Tennessee Health Science Center serves thousands of patients across Tennessee every day, with nearly 3,000 students enrolled at major campuses in Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Nashville, plus 1,200 medical resident and fellows in training. The UT Foundation Advancement manages all alumni, development, and philanthropic endeavors of the University of Tennessee and its Health Science Center campus in support of academics, research, clinical care and public service.
UT Foundation's central services provide support the mission to raise financial, public and political support for the University of Tennessee. Nearly 50 employees work together to engage and build meaningful relationships with alumni.
This position will report to and work for UT Health Science Center in Memphis but the candidate will need to be based in Knoxville, Tennessee.
