SENIOR RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, JASANOFF LAB , Biological Engineering and McGovern Institute for Brain Research , to assist lab researchers with a variety of experiments and duties. This will include conducting small and medium animal handling, including behavioral training, experimental surgeries, neuroimaging and physiological recording, and data acquisition and analysis; assisting with experimental preparations, including coordinating logistics and communicating with institutional veterinarians and other support staff in animal maintenance; conducting or assisting with surgeries, including pre-, intra-, and post-op care; assisting with writing reports and protocols; following institutional protocols for experimental procedures and MIT environmental health and safety regulations; and performing other duties as required.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a high school diploma or its equivalent; experience with laboratory animal handling and neuroscientific or behavioral experimentation; proficiency with MATLAB programming or similar; proficiency with data analysis, especially that related to neuroscience experiments; and ability to learn and implement project-specific research protocols and work collaboratively, under supervision, with other lab members. PREFERRED : bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or biomedical engineering; experience with animal surgery; experience with imaging and immunohistochemical techniques; and knowledge of image analysis and programming.
