UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Nurse Manager (RN3) to join our Operating Rooms team. The Assistant Nurse Manager will provide leadership for the assurance of clinical workforce competence, emphasizing service excellence, patient safety, staff safety and organizational values. Will plan, implement and evaluate unit orientation for staff with unit RN3 and NM. Will develop and maintain competencies, evaluate performance of staff, and develop and evaluate tools for orientation and learning. Collaborates with RN3 peers to ensure all annual training of staff is completed, and will develop educational opportunities for staff.
Functions competently as a Registered Nurse to provide safe and accurate data collection and coordination of protocol requirements through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Assists the nurse manager in the day-to-day management of the unit and in implementation of new and ongoing research protocols. Responsible for orienting and evaluating staff, and for assisting the nurse manager in counseling staff when appropriate. Works directly with investigators to trouble-shoot and clarify new protocols as they are implemented. Also works directly with research subjects and has the same responsibilities in this area as RN2.

Assists with planning or implementation of educational programs for staff and/or patients.
Coordinates an orientation program for new staff.

Identifies the individual capabilities of staff; provides counseling, instruction, or additional experience as needed; and consults with the Manager if further action is indicated.
Involves staff in monitoring resource use to promote efficient and effective care delivery.
Coordinates scheduling process.

REQUIREMENTS Requires BSN and two years of Operating Room nursing experience OR equivalent education/experience. Must obtain CNOR within six months of hire. BLS/ACLS required.
DESIRED MSN or equivalent preferred.
