The Assistant Director of Parent and Family Programs is responsible developing and implementing programs to support Maverick families in their journey to support their student(s). The role of the Assistant Director of Parent & Family Services will be to involve, engage, connect, educate and support the parents and family members of current UTA students. The Assistant Director will report to the Director of Transition Programs & Services.
Assist the Director of Transition Programs & Services and the Assistant Director of Transition Services in the day-to-day operations, as well as the parent and family engagement and retention initiatives of the Parent & Family Services Department (10%). Responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, development, work schedule and workflow of the Parent & Family Services Coordinator as well as paid student employees (15%). Coordinate with the Transition Programs & Services Director in the design and implementation of all New Maverick Orientation programs that focus on orientation programming for parents, family members, and other supporters (10%). Works directly with campus partners to coordinate orientation and Parent & Family Services programming, update presentation materials, and garner information that should be shared with parents and families (5%). Assist with the planning and execution of new and current department events such as but not limited to Welcome Week Activities, Parent & Family Weekend, Spring Family Day, and Virtual Family Initiatives (15%). Coordinates the design, editing, production, and distribution of publications for parents, family members, and supporters such as program materials, application of social media, use of tech platforms, such as the department's comprehensive website, the parent and family resource guide, as well as the Maverick Family Membership Portal that offers customized electronic newsletters, transition articles, and opportunities to engage with interest communities (20%). Maintain the database of parent and family contact information, to include membership information for the Maverick Parent & Family Association and Volunteer Ambassador Program for the retention of members (5%). Manage event attendee lists, event attendance statistics; as well as sales summaries, membership comparatives, and departmental reports while supporting the administrative and generalist functions of Parent & Family Services (10%). Represent Parent & Family Services on various campus committees as assigned by supervisor, recruitment events, and other activities sponsored by the University and Division of Student Affairs; as well as professional development opportunities, including professional conferences (5%). Performs other duties as assigned (5%).
Bachelor's degree required. Ability to utilize independent thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills. Experience working with a diverse population; excellent writing and public speaking skills. Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating student or parent & family programs.
