UW Medicine Faculty Practice Plan Services (FPPS) supports UW Physicians (UWP), a practice group for more than 1,800 physicians and other healthcare professionals associated with UW Medicine. UW Medicine includes Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center - Montlake, UW Neighborhood Clinics, UW Medical Center - Northwest, the UW School of Medicine, Valley Medical Center, and Airlift Northwest. UWP members also practice at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, a partnership of UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
FPPS has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, day shift, ACCOUNTING MANAGER.
Under the administrative direction of the Controller, The Accounting Manager has principal responsibility to plan, supervise, administer and direct the activity of the accounting staff and implement systems and processes for collecting, verifying, processing and reporting financial information in an accurate and timely manner.
Manager is responsible for the accurate processing and reporting of UWP financial transactions in accordance with a complex and unique set of accounting standards for multiple high profile stakeholder groups that require the application of significantly different reporting principles to the transactions of the organization's transactions.
Monthly Close Process - Ensure accurate an timely close with required approvals, reviews and reconciliations
Reporting and Audit - Ensure timely and accurate reporting of information for financial statements, management reports, tax returns, and budgets for all stakeholders including UW Physician management, UW School of Medicine and UW Medicine
Personnel Management – Recruiting for open staff positions, training and development, monthly one-on-ones, annual evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
Process Evaluation and Documentation - Evaluate and monitor processes and controls for general ledger and financial reporting operations, create and maintain process documentation, and develop recommendations for improvement
Miscellaneous – Assist with department planning and decision making, support UWP and UW Medicine initiatives
Interview, hire, and train new employees, monitor employee performance, initiate disciplinary action, terminate employees as appropriate, write and conduct employee performance evaluations, conduct and participate in team meetings and coordinate coverage for open positions. Support ongoing professional development of 4 FTEs reporting to the position.
7 years of progressive financial accounting experience with strong background in analyzing and preparing financial statements and 3 years supervisory experience.
Experience in an academic healthcare environment preferred.
