California State University, San Bernardino invites applications for the position of Director of the Undocumented Student Success Center (USSC). Under the Division of Student Affairs, the USSC creates a welcoming, dynamic resource environment for our undocumented student population and provides a safe place where AB540 allies and other persons with a common interest for underserved populations can congregate, exchange ideas and provide support to one another and their students.
With general supervision from the Associate Vice President of Student Success and Educational Equity, the Undocumented Student Success Center (USSC) Director is responsible for carrying the mission of the USSC across the office, department, division, institution, system of higher education, state and nation. The Director oversees daily operations to ensure the goals of the USSC are met. The Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and activities of the USSC. The Director with the support of the staff are responsible for leading in the departmental, division, and institutional efforts to work towards achieving a healthier campus climate for undocumented students, DACAmented and mixed-status students, and the community. The USSC Director will serve as a member of the Division of Student Affairs Council and will be the primary contact for all efforts and activities related to the work of the USSC, including presentations to campus stakeholders, community members, and prospective students.
Employment Status: Full-time, At-Will, 'Exempt' position, included in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP).

Generally, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; the incumbent will be asked to work some evenings and weekends to support operations, student support, and promoting the Undocumented Student Success Center to alumni, prospective students, parents, and community members.
The incumbent is expected to possess a working knowledge about undocumented/DACAmented policies and procedures, academic programs, program management policies and procedures, and student support services.
The ability to be sensitive to the needs of diverse student populations, such as non-traditional and minority students and students with disabilities is a necessity.
Incumbents must also be able to interpret student needs and determine when referral to other University resources is appropriate.
Must have excellent customer service skills for working with varied stakeholder groups, including working across university divisions and community divides.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
A demonstrated commitment to process improvement.
Working knowledge of standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and social media programs.
Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people, work autonomously and exercise sound judgment, determine priorities, complete assigned projects promptly, and work effectively under tight deadlines.
Education and Experience
Master's degree in Public Administration, Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
Five (5) years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations, and effective communication skills required.
Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Combination of business skills, emotional intelligence, and technical experience.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Background similar to that of the students being served.
Experience with PeopleSoft and system implementations.
Experience working in the California State University system.
