The Research Study Assistant will work closely with Professor Leslie DeChurch and her collaborators (faculty and students at Northwestern and NASA personnel) to direct and coordinate a NASA-funded study that is being conducted in Moscow for the next year in direct coordination with Northwestern. The study will follow an international 6-member space crew confined in Moscow for 8 months. During this time, the Study Assistant will be administering surveys and coordinating tasks completed with a team located in Evanston. The position is based in Evanston. The position will be the primary point of contact for our research partners, will organize data collection materials and sessions in the laboratory, and collect and back up video and survey data. The research being conducted spans a wide range of topics including team composition, team processes, multi-team systems, and human factors in space exploration.
Please note: This is a one-year termed position subject to renewal dependent on performance and available funding.
Recruits study participants.
Reviews & obtains informed consent.
Schedules study visits with participants.
Collects survey data.
Facilitates communication with key personnel & participants to maintain project study flow.
May process reimbursements for travel expenses.
Monitors & distribute petty cash.
Processes invoices &/or purchase requisitions.
May train other research staff to interview/test participants.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Must complete Northwestern's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.

Excellent social and communication skills are particularly important because much of this job is managing people
Psychology, Sociology, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a social science field (or related fields, such as mathematical methods in the social sciences or organizational behavior).

Experience with Qualtrics, IRB processes, and running research experiments
