Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Research Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the technical activities, some experimental protocols, and infrastructure of Dr. Wafik El-Deiryâ™s research group in relation to the operation of his research laboratory. Act as a technical resource to lab researchers to develop and/or resolve technical issues in line with their research goals. Assists with conducting laboratory experiments as the major job function. Troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Evaluate and procure material and equipment for lab personnel. Monitor compliance with institution biosafety regulations in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 11/30/2023Â which may be extended based upon available funding.
Education and Experience
Bachelorâ™s degree in biological sciences and a minimum of 1-2 yearsâ™ experience in molecular and cellular biology laboratory required, and or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to support lab group and to interact with a diverse range of individuals.
Excellent organizational, record keeping, task prioritization, and report preparation skills.
Outstanding problem-solving skills, ability to implement solutions.
Strong knowledge of fluorescence microscopy, cell culture, and molecular biology techniques.
Candidate must have excellent verbal and communication skills, able to present complex data in clear presentations.
Computerproficiency in MAC and PC.
Ability to collect and analyze data.
Ability to work independently as well as attention to detail.
Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
