Reporting to the Director of African American Student Initiatives, the individual selected for this position will assist in the implementation of academic, social, cultural, leadership and professional development programs and activities in support of the department, Division of Student Affairs and university missions.
Primary Responsibilities :
1. Enhance, coordinate and oversee the NKU R.O.C.K.S. Program (Freshman Transition Retention Program) 2. Develop and coordinate programming to promote diversity, cultural awareness, and inclusion within the campus community 3. Design and implement, and plan support, educational enrichment, and retention initiatives for African American students (sophomore, junior, and transfer students) 4. Provide guidance and make appropriate referrals for students on educational, financial, personal, and career matters 5. Maintain student records and contact data and monitor student performance. 6. Develop effective positive relationships with various campus and external constituents 7. Advise and provide developmental assistance to student organizations. 8. Supervise student workers and graduate students and assign adequate responsibilities. 9. Support the goals and mission of the Center for Student Inclusiveness (CSI)
Bachelor's Degree and one year of related work experience required.
Experience with promoting cross-cultural/ intersectionality communication and advancing social justice
Strong sense of initiative and creativity
Experience in developing and facilitating study skills workshops and seminars
Experience working with NPHC and/or predominantly Black student organizations
Enthusiasm and ability to motivate and inspire students to excel
Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of non-traditional aged and commuter students
Excellent communication and time management skills
Budget and database management
