The Department of Translational Genomics/Institute of Translational Genomics is seeking a Clinical Research Data Specialist to become part of our team.Â The successful candidate will be responsible for completion, registration, and submission of data for the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN) project.Â The position will also play a key role for the following:
Monitor study compliance and maintains a system for effective data flow associated with research protocols.Â
Ability to read, identify, and extract pertinent data from the electronic health record
Work directly for the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network, a sponsored research project.
The successful candidate will have experience in an academic medical research setting with knowledgeÂ
In addition to the minimum requirements for the position, the following qualifications are strongly preferred:
Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR).
Maintains a 97% accuracy rating on all case abstracting
One year of experience in an acute care facility and experience in using computerized abstracting and coding database systems preferred
Three years of experience in an acute care facility and experience in using computerized abstracting and coding database systems preferred
Must have a thorough knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, oncology terminology, oncology physiology, and oncologic diagnostic and treatment modalities, typically obtained at the collegiate level.
Must understand clinical pathways to determine what types of treatment should be expected based on site, extent and type of cancer.
Must be proficient in morphology and topographic site coding by International Classification of Diseases (both ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD-O). Expertise is required in current staging schemes (SEER Summary, SEER Extent of Disease, Collaborative Stage, and American Joint Committee Cancer Staging TNM
Oncology clinical research experience in an acute care facility
