We are seeking a Assistant Buyer to work under the supervision of Director for Purchasing to select, prepare orders, and arrange for purchase of one or more types of equipment, materials, and supplies used by various college departments or associated agencies; does other related duties as required.
This is a hourly, part-time position.
Examples of Duties
Reviews purchase requisitions, checks descriptions and specifications for adequacy and accuracy, and consults with concerned parties to resolve discrepancies
Performs market research and stays abreast of market conditions, including pricing, industry trends, vendor base, and other relevant factors
Negotiates pricing, delivery, payment, and other business terms with vendors
Generates and issues purchase orders; confirms and coordinates pricing, delivery and other terms of the purchase transaction
With direction, ensures that purchases are in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations and policies
Maintains vendor list; ensures vendors are registered and otherwise in compliance with applicable statutes and regulations
With direction, prepares statistical, cost, and other reports
Prepares correspondence regarding with purchase matters
Maintains records and files, which may include electronic databases
Will be required to develop expertise with various types of electronic and/or manual procurement and payment systems used by the college
Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal clients and vendors
Performs other related duties as assigned
High School diploma required; Associate's degree preferred
Minimum of two (2) years of related experience
Excellent math and communication skills
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and ERP systems
Able to work well with staff and students in a cooperative and professional manner
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
