The research associate will coordinate and support research efforts in the Augmented imaging/Artificial intelligence Data Analytics Lab of the Department of Radiology, comprised of graduate students, medical students, residents, post-doctoral fellows, clinical fellows and faculty. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the research associate will support a variety of research projects, working with multiple lab members to develop artificial intelligence algorithms and other new technologies for diagnosis using x-ray, CT, and MRI.
Duties will include tracking of multiple project deadlines, including manuscript and grant production. The research associate will also help to coordinate clinical research, including preparation, submission, and maintenance of IRB protocols, screening, and consenting research subjects. The research associate will further support the principal investigator and lab through coordination of research collaborations and meetings, analyzing laboratory budgets and grant progress for federally and industry funded projects.
Advanced theoretical knowledge of research design, application, and of anatomy and physiology of the human body typically acquired through formal education at the Master's level.
Proven ability to perform independent research and provide leadership of a productive research team. This includes the ability to interpret study scope, provide for requirements and accomplish the goals of a given study.
Advanced knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability in the management of a large data set including images as well as other forms of data.
Strong leadership experience in a research lab. Ability to track and ensure the timely meeting of multiple concurrent deadlines in an environment with frequently shifting priorities. Strong analytic, inductive, and deductive reasoning skills.
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) needed to interact professionally and effectively in work environment, as well as effectively and accurately document research procedures. Ability to act as a liaison between lab and its collaborators.
Ability to think and work in an organized and effective manner in an environment with rapidly shifting and often contradictory demands and priorities.
Thorough knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability in the development, maintenance, and execution of research protocols and techniques.
Demonstrated ability in the preparation of IRB submissions, renewals, continuance, amendments, deviation reporting, and closures.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient/study subject data.
Radiology experience at UCSD.
