Essential Functions: The Perinatology Research Branch (PRB) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) in partnership with Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, conducts clinical and translational research in obstetrics and perinatal medicine.The Laboratories of the Perinatology Research Branch have locations at Hutzel Women's Hospital and the C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development. The PRB serves Southeastern Michigan as the primary obstetrical care center for the Detroit Medical Center (DMC), an affiliate of Wayne State University (WSU). One of our missions is to increase and enhance research in reproductive sciences, identify the most critical areas of women's health research, and facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations to fill in the knowledge gap. We aim to enhance educational opportunities in reproductive sciences and establish a thriving community of reproductive science researchers at Wayne State University. Our research is enhanced by a highly collaborative environment within the School of Medicine.Wayne State University; Detroit, Michigan seeks qualified candidates for the faculty position to focus on cellular and molecular immune mechanisms of disease of pregnancy complications. Successful candidates will broaden a nationally recognized research program in this area. The individuals chosen for these positions will become part of a highly successful, fast-paced research group that focuses on clinical and basic research in perinatal medicine and related disciplines. The goal of this internationally recognized research is to develop novel diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative strategies to reduce adverse pregnancy outcomes, infant mortality and handicap. The research agenda focuses on maternal-fetal immunobiology. The candidates will be expected to establish and maintain an energetic, productive research program; engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Maternal-Fetal Immunobiology or Basic Immunology is required.
