This Laboratory Assistant I will be responsible for:
Cleans glassware for labs.
Prepares basic lab reagents.
Monitors and maintains general laboratory equipment maintenance, inventory supply and filing.
Monitors and maintains laboratory supplies in technologist work areas; restocks supplies if necessary. Checks all storage areas in laboratory for any surplus stock and distributes accordingly.
Maintains and performs preventative maintenance on major laboratory equipment. Performs and documents quality control on laboratory equipment.
Maintains the cleanliness and tidiness of the laboratory.
To qualify, you must have:
High School education or equivalent and no previous experience.
The skills to follow directions, read, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters, use basic equipment. Work requires the ability to work independently.
The ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information. Work occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors, which involves courtesy.
Part time 20 hours per week -Monday - Friday
Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
