The Associate Content Creator plays a key role in the Office of Health Sciences Education to manage communications for the School of Medicine, and serves as an ex officio member of the Strategic Communications Advisory Committee. The Associate Content Creator creates copy for web, blogs/news, social media, email campaigns, print, and other marketing initiatives. The Associate Content Creator works closely with the Digital Communications Manager and multiple stakeholders across VU and VUSM (faculty, staff, and students), to interview, research, source, and create content for all VUSM channels. Additionally, the Associate Content Creator manages all aspects of VUSM social media, including maintaining an editorial calendar, scheduling posts, and monitoring engagement across multiple social media platforms.

The Office of Health Sciences Education (OHSE) governs the range of educational activities of The Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, including administering degree programs that provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they will need to practice safe, effective, ethical, evidence-based, and patient-centered health care in the 21st century. Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, research, and write clear and compelling content to strengthen visibility and promote the reputation of VUSM, aligning with the school's strategic communications goals.
Build and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and students to identify storytelling opportunities.
Write for various channels, including but not limited to web, blog, email, print, video, and social media.
Serve as lead social media gatekeeper, upholding creative standards and best practices for all content published on VUSM's channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram); evaluate social media efforts.
Maintain a social media editorial calendar and manage day-to-day social media activities, including scheduling posts and monitoring engagement.
Oversee social media content managers, to ensure adherence to OHSE, VUSM, VU, and industrywide standards and best practices.
Stay up to date with social media trends and innovations, new platforms and channels, and make strategic recommendations.
Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
Maintain highly structured workflow; maintain high degree of organization and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and self-motivate, while working within a team environment.
Other duties as assigned
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is necessary.
Strong written and spoken communication skills are necessary.
2-3 years of copy/content creation experience is preferred.
Editing, interviewing, and content/background research experience is preferred.
High level of creativity and analytical skills are necessary.
Understanding of what makes a compelling story to VUSM audiences is preferred.
Excellent grasp of the English language and grammar rules is necessary.
Proficiency in various social media platforms, Microsoft Office suite, Photoshop, and WordPress is preferred.
Experience using web, social media, and email norms, standards, and best practices is preferred.
