Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Experienced Research Assistants are sought to work across multiple studies on quality and safety in health care.The research assistant will also assist the principal investigator team with administrative, research and dissemination duties as assigned in addition to attending team meetings.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
Assist in research design, adjustment and execution
Maintain a good working knowledge of all study protocols and plans
Control quality of research documentation and research integrity
Conduct literature reviews
Conduct semi-structured interviews with study participants
Assist in expert convening and engagement
Assist in research dissemination products (papers, presentations, website material)
Participate in other research initiatives as workload allows
Other duties as assigned.
Follow all study IRB approved protocols and procedures
Minimum qualifications (mandatory):
Bachelor's degree in related discipline. Some related experience in research methods and content.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred qualifications:MPH or MS in relevant field preferred.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required as is attention to detail and the ability to complete multiple tasks on a timely basis
HIPAA and Research Compliance certification training relevant to human subjects' research and other JHU classes as required.
Interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with Principal Investigator and other staff members and research participants
Ability to maintain meticulous records
Ability to work well with others to solve problems
Ability to maintain participant confidentiality
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and organizational skills

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
