This Senior Program Officer will work with the Senior Adviser to the President for Strategic Initiatives to provide leadership and managerial oversight for the development of vibrant national engagement programs across the University. This role will be responsible for actively facilitating and supporting the university's relationship with leaders and stakeholders in the Baltimore/DC region, with a focus on a suite of initiatives that will connect the University's Baltimore and DC-based activities, including the success of the Distinguished Presidential Fellows In Residence Program, Congressional Briefing Series, and Health Policy Forum. The position involves significant resource coordination and collaboration across the institution, to build and implement a very dynamic and highly visible national engagement strategy that connects Johns Hopkins programs in Baltimore and Washington, DC.
Work with National Engagement Strategy leadership to proactively explore and identify proposal development and program expansion opportunities.
Collaborate with representatives across the University to ensure that adequate resources and infrastructure are secured to support visiting national and international leaders in residence through the university's Distinguished Presidential Fellows Program.
Develop and implement DC-based experiential learning programs for undergraduates.
Assist with administration of competitive funds to support faculty curricular and co-curricular efforts related to national engagement.
Organize and execute events in Baltimore and Washington, DC and manage all aspects of special event coordination, including budget, security, and transportation.
Coordinate with appropriate University communication resources to ensure active promotion of relevant National Engagement Strategy program content for a widespread and highly influential audience.
Develop and maintain web presence for National Engagement Strategy.
Graduate degree in politics, public policy, or related field
A minimum of 5 years experience in a highly competitive academic or policy setting, managing multiple priorities that are high-visibility, high-accountability, and deadline-oriented
Demonstrated engagement in public policy, political, or practice-based settings
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Demonstrated critical thinking and superior problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to manage difficult and complex issues with diplomacy and tact while focusing on pre-determined goals and effectively working within a team
Demonstrated ability to foster a cooperative work environment and develop positive and effective working relationships

Must be able to work a flexible schedule to align with special events and and travel as needed within National Capital Region
