Are you a mid-level marketer or junior marketer looking to take the next step in your career? If so, we encourage you to apply for this marketing manager position at Goucher College in our fast-paced communications office. This position will take a leadership role in the College's email marketing efforts across multiple stakeholder groups, including prospective undergraduate and graduate students, alumnae/i, and internal audiences. This includes creating and managing an editorial calendar, assisting with and implementing strategy, providing design direction, writing and editing content, and securing digital assets.
Reporting to the director of marketing, this position will also assist with overall marketing strategy and efforts for the College, providing proactive feedback for marketing efforts and assisting with other digital marketing campaigns as needed. This position will be responsible for auditing the current email strategy and structures, recommending improvements based on data and experience, and duplicating/creating new email marketing campaigns in order to meet recruitment or advancement goals for the College. Such projects could include assisting with launching a new graduate degree or implementing new messaging in email campaigns based on recent feedback on the College's brand and research on its position in the marketplace.
This position works with the communications office, which includes a team of designers, writers, web experts, a videographer, and more, to support all of the communications goals across the College. The person in this position will have the opportunity to interact with a variety of stakeholders across the campus.
Strong writing ability for a variety of audiences across multiple platforms
Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field
Three years of digital marketing experience, preferably in email marketing. Must have industry and/or deep social media marketing knowledge and skillset.
Preferred: Five years of digital marketing experience, preferably in email marketing. Experience in a marketing-related position with a focus on writing and editing style for web and email communications.
Microsoft Office on both Mac and PC, CMS/web-editing software programs, blog platforms (e.g., WordPress)
Social media platforms (e.g., Hootsuite)
Mass email distribution systems (e.g., MailChimp)
Comfortable with learning college-specific database skills (e.g., CRM/Slate)
Comfortable with photo and video editing (e.g., Premiere, YouTube editor)
Preferred: HTML and design skills (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator).

Most staff at Goucher College are currently working remotely as the campus slowly reopens following national and local restrictions and guidance. The College plans to be a fully residential campus in fall 2021, with most staff returning by mid-August. The communications office expects to work remotely, with some exceptions, through at least July before developing a plan for returning to the office. There is flexibility in this position for remote work going forward.
