Assistant Director of Small Business Development Center
Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) is accepting applications for the Assistant Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). This full time, grant funded position assists in growing entrepreneurship among small businesses within McLean County, Illinois, by providing professional advice and analysis.
The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring the success of the center’s consulting services and will work with the director of the McLean County SBDC at IWU, university faculty, university students, economic development organizations, lending partners, and business support partners, to identify small business needs and resources available to support entrepreneurial development and economic growth.
Provide professional consultation to new entrepreneurs wishing to start a business or those with existing small businesses, in the areas of: business plan development, financial analysis, marketing research, business management operations, human resources, legal issues, international markets, government contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and commercialization.
Mentor and lead SBDC Business Advisors
Develop and maintain relationships with local small business resources
Provide updates to the State of Illinois SBDC database system, Neoserra. All business consultations must be confidential and documented within the system.
Monitor budgets to ensure spending stays on budget with grant.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred; Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Economic Development or related field.
Fifteen years experience related to the essential responsibilities and duties of the position preferred. This could include a combination of marketing, economics, banking management, industrial development, research, community or economic development, business administration, real estate development, law, insurance and/or related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of entrepreneurship, small business management and operations, accounting and financial analysis, marketing, market research, human resource management, financial lending procedures and legal issues.
Local travel with occasional evening obligations
Valid driver’s license
