Provides advanced support of cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new, modifying, and supporting existing software applications. Undertakes complex projects requiring specialized technical knowledge and innovative thinking.
The Research Administration Delivery Team within WashU IT Enterprise Applications supports a variety of custom and vended applications and integrations for systems used by university’s research administrative team to complete daily activities.
The ideal candidate is a full stack web developer (.NET Core, .NET, SQL) who enjoys enhancing & improving both modern & legacy code, has demonstrated experience continuously improving code and also enjoys collaborating with others to solve complicated technical problems.
The portfolio of support for this position will include, but is not limited to, the ongoing enhancement efforts of the new custom sub-awards system (SUBS) written in .NET Core/Angular and hosted on Azure. This platform provides mechanisms to collect information from external collaborative research partners, meet regulatory compliance and institutional policy, and achieve consistency for review and issuing sub-award agreements across departments. These features promote managing the sub-award lifecycle to increase transparency, prevent unnecessary or redundant touchpoints, and deliver dynamically created sub-award contracts. Beyond SUBS, this position will develop and enhance integration for other applications using a .NET Core & SQL-based integration framework.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct work flow study and analysis of business practices.
Analyze and document existing processes as they relate to information technology solutions.
Code, monitor, maintain, test, and debug software applications.
Follow established change management processes.
Facilitate code reviews and enforce code standards.
Develop and execute test plan development.
Research and evaluate new technology, products, specialized hardware and tools to optimize development and functionality of applications.
Make recommendations to management and customers.
Assist in ensuring team members complete tasks as assigned, taking corrective action to stay on schedule.
Support complex operational activities and recoveries.
Coordinate with software vendors and external service providers.
Troubleshoot escalated software bugs and provide fixes.
Provide off hours support, as needed.
Provide, cultivate and foster excellent customer service.
Enforce adherence to departmental standards.
Instruct, train, and guide less experienced staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, plus three years of relevant technology experience or an equivalent combination of education & experience.

The hiring range for this position is $71,323 - $92,789 annually.
