TUSDM seeks candidates for the position of Director of Post-Graduate Admissions, at the level of Associate or Full Professor. This contract or tenure track faculty position is available immediately.
The Office of Admissions oversees the admissions process for all degree programs offered by TUSDM. The Office is responsible for enrolling the most qualified and diverse classes and manages the DMD and DIS entire application processes, including enrollment for each student. Additionally, the office offers administrative oversight for the post-graduate (PG) application process for all the advanced graduate education programs. The Office is responsible for regional, national, and international recruitment outreach initiatives.
The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the post-graduate (PG) admissions process for all certificate, fellowship, Master's, and DSc degree programs. The Director oversees the processing and distribution of all applications for the school's post-graduate certificate and fellowship programs to the PG program and DSc directors. Tasks for the master's programs will include planning interview sessions for master's degree applicants, communicating outcomes to all applicants, and corresponding with accepted and wait-listed candidates. This will also entail processing and reviewing MS and DSc admissions applications, selecting candidates for interview, and, in coordination with the MS/DSc Admissions Committee, accepting candidates for admission. The Director also produces admissions materials for the DSc, MS, and post-graduate certificate and fellowship programs and provides content changes to the school's website. The Director manages marketing, communication, and public relation duties for the School of Dental Medicine's DSc, MS, and PG programs as well as coordinating, organizing, and supporting the implementation of all internal departmental procedures, such as the annual review and production of application materials, updating the Student Information System and Web Admit databases, and generating computer reports. The Director assists with new student orientation and matriculation for DSc, MS, and PG students represents the University during external cultivation events and during regional and national conferences and serves on university-wide committees (GAPSARC). The Director will chair the DSc/MS Admissions Committee and serve on the Advanced Graduate Education (AGE), Curriculum (CC), and Post-Doctoral Ethics, Professionalism, and Citizenship (PDEPC) committees. The Director will coordinate with the Associate Dean for Admissions and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to develop processes for managing applications, interviews, and admissions for new post-graduate programs and will be involved in discussions on all new advanced graduate education programs to include potential online education programs. The Director will also coordinate internships and visitations with international student groups from dental schools with which we have exchange agreements.

Candidates for the position of Director of Post-Graduate Admissions must meet the following requirements:
Hold a DMD/DDS (doctoral) from an accredited North American dental school or a Ph.D.;
Completed advanced graduate education in a certificate, MDS, MPH or MS program a plus;
A combination of five years of admissions, outreach, recruitment, and dental education or related experience required. 4+ years of leadership or experience managing staff required;
Required computer/technical skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, Email; and
Advanced knowledge of SIS and admissions database software (CAAPID, PASS) is a plus.
Experience in developing and directing a professional school's admissions program is strongly preferred, as is knowledge of and experience with international students. Significant experience in a highly competitive professional school setting is desirable. Also, experience hiring, training and managing staff is preferred. This position requires a great deal of oral and written communication, including presentations to large and small audiences, and memo, letter, and report writing. As such, excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written, and public speaking skills are required as is a high degree of initiative and self-direction. The abilities to 1) balance marketing and screening responsibilities in the admissions process, 2) conceptualize and manage the relationships among the components of the application processing system, 3) coordinate the contributions of various departmental staff, 4) interact with departmental staff, university personnel, and admissions applicants professionally and effectively, 5) represent the University with tact and diplomacy at external events, and 6) to function within strict time constraints are all important for this position. As the departmental office experiences frequent, often unscheduled interactions with faculty, students, staff, and prospective students, the position requires the management of multiple, concurrent, time-constrained processes and tolerance for constant interruptions. Knowledge of services, issues and best practices as they relate to dental school recruitment, admissions and enrollment processes is a plus. The incumbent should be enthusiastic, motivated, and a team-player and should be able to instill these qualities in staff.
