The University of Chicago's Department of Neurological Surgery is searching for a full-time associate or full professor. The successful applicant will assume the critical leadership role in developing a new joint pediatric neurosciences service line throughout the Chicagoland Children's Health Alliance (CCHA), a partnership between the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital, Advocate Children's Hospital, and NorthShore University Health System.
The Director will be responsible for the pediatric neurosurgery program's research, education, and clinical service missions. The ideal candidate is a nationally recognized leader and program builder with a strong background in all aspects of pediatric neurosurgery. They will have the vision to identify and develop strategic collaborative initiatives across the CCHA, achieving mutually agreed upon goals by leveraging our commitment to outstanding patient care, education, and research. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity.
We especially welcome applicants with prior experience in administering clinical and educational programs, demonstrated leadership in the field of pediatric neurosurgery at the national level, expertise in minimally invasive and/or complex surgeries, and a strong interest in clinical education. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.
The Department of Neurological Surgery has nationally recognized research and education programs that build on collaborations throughout the University and is active in clinical operations and quality improvement at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Neurosurgery (or equivalent), and 4) be fellowship trained in Pediatric Neurosurgery.
