The Jiang Laboratory focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms of lung inflammation and fibrosis, the role of lung stem cells in pulmonary fibrosis, and the role of host defense in lung inflammation and fibrosis. The Jiang Laboratory is affiliated with the Pulmonary Division in the Department of Medicine and Women's Guild Lung Institute.
Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientist, as a Postdoc Research Fellow, you will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Analyzes and interprets data. You may assist in preparation of grant proposals. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. You will not responsible for generating grant funds.

Department Specific Job Responsibilities:
Postdoctoral Scientist is to investigate mechanisms of pulmonary fibrosis and to carry out projects include the role of innate immune, stem cells, extracellular matrix, resident mesenchymal cells, and fibroblast heterogeneity in lung injury and repair (please see Nat Med. 2005;11:1173; J Clin Invest. 2010;120:2049; J Exp Med. 2011;208:1459; Sci Transl Med. 2011;3:74ra23; J Exp Med. 2015;212:235, J Clin Invest. 2016, 126:3063; and Nat Med 2016;22:1285).
Experimental approaches employed in our lab include molecular biology, genetically modified mice, lineage-specific tracing, mouse lung injury models, prospective isolation and cultivation of lung stem cells, single cell RNA-seq, immunology, tissue culture, and genomics studies.
Will be expected to carry out projects independently with minimal supervision, including designing experiments, formulating new ideas related to the projects, executing experiments proficiently and timely, and analyzing data professionally.
Will be expected to handle multiple projects, write scientific papers and reviews, and present work in scientific conferences.
Will be expected to supervise students and technicians including assay development, problem solving, interpreting results and planning follow-up experiments.
Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization is required
Ph.D. in molecular biology, development biology, medicine, or immunology is preferred
Experience and Skillset:
Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization.
Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment.
Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.
The successful candidate is expected to have research experience in genetically modified mice, mouse models in vivo, molecular immunology, and transcriptome analysis.
Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals is required.
